Broadcom Announces VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Cloud Console Transition

Broadcom has announced that the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Cloud Console will transition to a new VCF Cloud Console platform on April 24, 2025. Additionally, a major update—VCF Usage Meter 9.0—is expected to be released around the same time.

Impact of the Transition

During the transition, there will be a downtime period of two days (April 22 & 23, 2025). During this time:

VCSP partners can access the current console in read-only mode, and existing API operations will remain available.
Usage data for partners and their customers will not be accessible via the cloud console UI.
New VCF Usage Meters cannot be registered through the cloud console UI.
On-premises Usage Meters will continue collecting data, which will be communicated to the cloud once the new deployment is registered in the new VCF Cloud Console.

Recommendation: Partners should download all relevant reports from their VCF Usage Meter instances before the blackout period to ensure smooth operations.

What’s Changing and What’s Staying the Same?

Several portals are used for VCSP business interactions with Broadcom, each serving a specific purpose:

Broadcom Support Portal – No changes. This portal continues to provide access to contracts, support tickets, and license key management.
Partner Portal – No changes. This portal remains the primary source for partner-related documentation and updates.
VCF Cloud Console – Previously located at console.cloud.vmware.com, this portal for VCF Usage Meter registration and reporting is moving to vcf.broadcom.com.
On-Premises VCF Usage Meter Appliance – These appliances must be upgraded to VCF Usage Meter 9.0 within 90 days of its release.
Incorta (Usage Meter Engine) – No changes. This tool will continue to connect usage data to contracts.

Required Actions

To ensure a smooth transition, partners must upgrade their existing VCF Usage Meters to VCF Usage Meter v9.0 (once available). This upgrade must be completed within 90 days of its release.

For Usage Meter versions 4.7 and 4.8, the upgrade process will involve:
1. Generating an oAuth App for the currently registered VCF Usage Meter.
2. Performing an in-place upgrade to version 9.0.

For older versions, an upgrade to 4.6.1 will be required before utilizing the new oAuth App.

Steps to Prepare Now

1. Validate current Usage Meter versions and plan for an organization-wide upgrade to ensure compliance.
2. Swap VMware license keys for Broadcom license keys to ensure the new VCF Cloud Console captures metered data. Only active VCF Usage Meter instances communicating Broadcom license keys will be migrated.
3. Stay informed by visiting the VCSP page of the Partner Portal and checking the VCF Cloud Console Migration Updates section.
4. Review the latest Usage Meter Cloud Console FAQ.
