Verizon Business has deepened its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) through a new Verizon AI Connectagreement designed to power the next generation of artificial intelligence applications. The deal focuses on delivering high-capacity, low-latency fiber infrastructure to interconnect AWS data centers, supporting the massive data throughput and real-time performance demands of advanced AI workloads.
Under the agreement, Verizon will construct new long-haul fiber pathways across multiple regions, enhancing the scalability and resilience of AWS’s cloud network. The initiative represents a major step in Verizon’s ongoing investment in digital infrastructure, particularly as enterprises increasingly rely on AI-driven services requiring faster and more reliable data transmission.
By integrating Verizon’s network capabilities, AWS customers developing large-scale AI models will benefit from improved network performance and reduced latency.
Scott Lawrence, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Verizon Business, emphasized that artificial intelligence is reshaping industries at a fundamental level. “AI will be essential to the future of business and society, driving innovation that demands a network to match,” said Mr. Lawrence. “This deal with Amazon demonstrates our continued commitment to meet the growing demands of AI workloads for the businesses and developers building our future.”
Sustaining AI’s Accelerating Growth
AWS Vice President of Infrastructure Services Prasad Kalyanaraman added that the collaboration supports the cloud provider’s mission to deliver secure and high-performance infrastructure capable of sustaining AI’s accelerating growth. “The next wave of innovation will be driven by generative AI, which requires a combination of secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and flexible, high-performance networking,” he said. “By working with Verizon, AWS will ensure customers across every industry can build and deliver compelling, secure, and reliable AI applications at scale.”
The partnership expands on a well-established relationship between the two companies. Verizon has previously selected AWS as a strategic public cloud provider as part of its digital transformation strategy and collaborated with AWS on private mobile edge computing solutions. These joint initiatives have already enabled enterprises in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and entertainment to leverage edge and cloud capabilities for faster decision-making and operational efficiency.
With AI models driving exponential data growth, this new phase of cooperation between Verizon and AWS reinforces their shared ambition to underpin the global AI economy with the robust, high-performance networks it requires.
